Mill Valley is located just below Mt. Tamalpais, Mill Valley is surrounded by national parks, including Muir Woods, as well as hills and canyons were locals and visitors alike enjoy hiking, biking and running.  Mill Valley was named one the top 10 cities to like in by Money Magazine.  The town also hosts many cultural events including the internationally recognized Mill Valley Film Festival and the Mountain Play.

Designated a California Distinguished School in 1989, the schools CST scores reflect the high academic standards at Strawberry Point School.  As with all Mill Valley School District, supplemental funding allows the school participates in the State Class Size Reduction Program for grades K-3.

California Distinguished School in 1997, the school ranked in the top 10% of California schools with similar grade range in 2006.  Students are selected for the Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE) at the end of the 4th grade and clustered in the 5th grade.  After school enrichment programs are offered by the Mill Valley Parks and Recreation Department.

Tamalpais High, a California Distinguished School, offers a comprehensive curriculum including Honors and Advanced Placement classes, foreign languages, technical arts, and an on-site ROP (Regional Occupational Program).  A Global Studies program provides opportunities for travel and language immersion.

Alumni include actress Eve Arden, mountain bike inventor Joe Breeze, guitarist John Cipollina, stateman/comic Pat Paulsen.  The Sock Hop scenes in the film ‘American Graffitti' , (1973), were filmed in the boys gym.

Tamiscal is a small independent high school in the Tamalpais Union High School District.  The program allows students to earn a high school diploma but may not provide necessary courses for university entrance.  Some university required courses may need to be fulfilled elsewhere.
